Ex-serviceman, family brutally murdered in Ahmednagar dist

Pune: A 58-year-old ex-serviceman, his wife and two children were found brutally murdered in their house in Shevgaon town in Ahmednagar district on Sunday. Police are yet to ascertain the motive behind the murder.

As per the police, the family lived in Vidyanagar locality of Shevgaon. The incident came to light on Sunday morning when their milkman came to deliver milk. He raised an alarm following which the neighbours arrived and found all the four family members lying in a pool of blood. The deceased have been identified as Appasaheb Harawane (58), wife Sunanda (50), daughter Snehal (18) and son Makarand (15).

Police said two of the victims had several injuries made with a sharp weapon while the others had their throats slit. Police said Appasaheb was a retired soldier and was currently working as a surveyor at the land records office. His wife was a homemaker and children studied in a college.
