Five killed, three injured in expressway accident

PUNE: At least five persons were killed and three others were injured on Friday morning, after a trailer carrying cement bags rammed into two cars on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, near Adoshi.

According to police, the trailer was going towards Pune from Mumbai. The driver of the trailer lost control over the vehicle and it hit the divider of the road while crossing the Khopoli area around 11am.The trailer crossed over the median and hit two cars on the Pune-Mumbai lane.While four persons present in two different cars were killed on the spot, one person succumbed while under treatment.

The incident had led to traffic jan on Pune-Mumbai lane.

The Highway traffic department , IRB and other officials were deployed to clear the traffic.Khopoli police is investigating the case.
