Former Maharashtra CM Shivajirao Patil Nilangekar passes away at 89

Shivajirao Patil Nilangekar, former Chief Minister of Maharashtra passed away on Wednesday. Nilangekar (89) was recently tested positive for the novel COVID-19 but later recovered and was discharged from the hospital after testing negative.

The former CM of Maharashtra health had deteriorated from past few days. He had tested positive for the COVID-19 in last month in Latur district and was later shifted to a hospital-based in Pune. However, he was discharged from the hospital after testing negative.

The senior Congress leader served as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra from June 1985 to March 1986. His grandson Sambhaji Patil is BJP MLA at present and had also served as the Labour Minister under the BJP ruled Devendra Fadnavis government.
