HC rejects bail application of Milind Ekbote

Mumbai: Mumbai High Court on Friday rejected bail application of Hindu Aghadi leader Milind Ekbote. Ekbote is likely to face arrest soon in the Koregaon-Bhima violence case.

Pune Rural Police have slapped sectios 153(a) (giving provocation with the intent to cause riot), 120 (b) (criminal conspiracy) and Sections 117 (abetting commission of offence by the public or by more than 10 persons) against Hindutva leader Milind Ekbote, who has been booked in a case of violence at Koregaon-Bhima on January 1.

The matter was heard before the bench of Justice S C Dharmadhikari and Justice Bharati Dangre. 

Police have registered FIR against Ekbote and Manohar alias Sambhaji Bhide on the basis of complaint by some activists, accusing them of violence at Koregaon-Bhima, at a time when lakhs had come to the Jaystambh in Perne village in Shirur taluka to mark the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Koregaon-Bhima.
