PUNE: When the state of Kerala saw unprecedented rainfall and the deadliest floods in almost a century, help poured out from all over the country and everyone contributed to the disaster relief fund. 

The students of Dr Harivansh Rai Bachchan School in Ahmedpur in Latur set an example by collecting almost Rs 51,000 by setting up a tea stall and donated the amount to Kerala relief fund. They handed over the amount to CM Devendra Fadnavis on Friday.

The Kerala floods have disrupted livelihoods, residences and daily lives of the people of that state. The nation had stood behind the victims of the flood. Organisations and voluntary groups sent doctors, medicines, hygiene material, clothes, food, blankets and other such necessities. 

When the appeal for help reached their little ears, students of the school decided to start selling tea at a stall outside their school. The stall grabbed the attention of citizens of the town and people thronged to have tea while being satisfied that their money was for good cause. The students were successful in collecting a sum of Rs 51,000, which though a small amount, is a symbol of sensitivity shown by these little ones.

Students Hariom Musale, Vishwambhar Mulgir, Sanjay Kendre and Shubham Chitte, submitted the cheque for the money collected by them to CM Fadnavis. Fadnavis congratulated the children for the sensitivity shown by them. MLA Vinayak Patil, Chairman of the School Nivrutti Yadav, Teacher Harinarayan Sabde, Narayan Kerle and others were present at the programme at the CM’s residence in Mumbai.
