MUMBAI: Amid the tension on the border between India and Pakistan after the Pulwama terror attack and retaliation from both sides, the ongoing interim budget session in the State was adjourned on Thursday till June 17.

All the parties had a meeting in the morning, where they decided to adjourn the interim budget session from Thursday. 

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced in the legislative assembly that the session has been curtailed considering threat perception. 

After a tension on Indo-Pak border, a high alert has been issued across the country. Mumbai is most vulnerable in such a situation. Police are deployed for security in large numbers during the session. These personnel are needed to be positioned for monitoring Mumbai and the state.  

“About 5,000 police personnel have been deployed for security of the Vidhan Bhavan. If the session ends, these large number of policemen will be available for the security of the city,” said Fadnavis. 

On Tuesday, the chief minister had a meeting with all party leaders along with leader of opposition Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil and Dhananjay Munde and senior officials. In the meeting, all leaders agreed to adjourn the session in the interest of national security.  

The same proposal was tabled in state legislative council that the session has been adjourned considering the tension on the Indo-Pak border.
