Maharashtra: IMD forecasts heavy rainfall from today

The Indian meteorological department (IMD) has forecast torrential rains with thunder and lightning in some parts of the Maharashtra state from Friday.

According to the long-term forecast of rains, moderate rains are expected across the Maharashtra state in the coming weeks. Rainfall will be less in the following week, but the return rains have not shown any sign to begin.

Mumbai and metropolitan areas received light rains on Thursday. During the day on Thursday, Mumbai city and suburbs received up to 5 mm of rain, Thane and its environs received five to ten mm of rain, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan Dombivali received five mm of rain.

It is raining in some places as it is active. Heavy rains lashed parts of Konkan, Central Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidarbha and Goa on Wednesday and Thursday. As a result, rivers have flooded in some places.

Moderate rains are expected in all parts of the state except Vidarbha from September 18 to September 24. Rainfall may occur in Konkan coast, Central Maharashtra, Marathwada. However, some districts in North Central Maharashtra, Vidarbha will receive less rainfall. In the following week, from September 25 to October 1, there will be rain only on the Konkan coast, districts in Central Maharashtra. Elsewhere the rainfall will be less.

Rain active

According to the meteorological department, the state is receiving nutritious rains and most parts of Konkan, Goa, Central Maharashtra and Marathwada are likely to receive rains in the next 24 hours. From Friday (September 19), torrential rains with thunderstorms and thunderstorms are expected in most parts of Konkan, Marathwada, Central Maharashtra and Vidarbha.
