The Maharashtra State's Competitive examination of Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has announced a new merit system. The negativity score method was to deduct one mark for four incorrect answers for various objective multiple-choice exams conducted by MPSC. That has now changed.
The 2009 negative marking system implemented by MPSC has been changed. Previously, there was a method of deducting one-third marks for each wrong answer. Now, according to the new rules, 25 per cent or one-fourth marks will be deducted from the total marks for each wrong answer.
If more than one answer is given to a question, the answer to such a question will be misunderstood and 25 per cent or 1/4 marks will be deducted from the answer to that question. While applying the above rule, even if the sum of the total final marks is in fractions, it will remain in fractions. Also, if the answer to a question is unanswered, the method of negativity points of yes type will not apply.
The new scoring system will be applicable for all the competitive examinations announced by MPSC, limited divisional competitive examinations as well as screening examinations. Such an announcement has been made on the official website of MPSC.
