MSRTC to ply extra buses for Raksha Bandhan fest

ST CORRESPONDENT

Pune: The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will ply extra buses during Raksha Bandhan to help ease extra rush. “Around 500 extra buses will run from August 25 to 27,” said an official.

The service has been rolled out to avoid passenger rush during the festive season.

“Keeping with the tradition, we will run around 500 extra buses, including Shivneri, Shivshahi, semi-luxury and ordinary buses on different routes for three days. The buses will run from Pune to Aurangabad, Nashik, Mumbai, Ahmednagar, Solapur, Daund, Indapur and Baramati,” said an officer of Pune Divisional Controller Office.

He added that every year, they run extra buses. “As this year, Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on Sunday, many passengers will go to their hometowns or will come to Pune. Hence, we decided that buses will operate from August 25 to 27,” the officer said.

The Mumbai division will operate around 2,000 additional buses, which will be functional locally from August 25
to August 27 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
