Nandurbar: Speeding bus falls into 30-feet deep gorge; five dead, 35 injured

Nandurbar: Five people were killed and at least 35 injured after a speeding bus fell into a gorge near Khamchoundar village in Nandurbar on Wednesday. The injured passengers were taken to the Civil Hospital in Nandurbar.

The accident took place at Kondaibari Ghat around 3.15am when the bus was travelling from Malkapur to Surat in Gujarat. As per initial information, the bus driver lost control over the wheels in the ghat area leading the vehicle fell into the nearly 30-feet gorge. On getting info about the accident, police and local rescue teams rushed to the spot.

"Five persons including the driver, cleaner and three of the passengers, have died on the spot," ANI quoted Mahendra Pandit, Superintendent of Police as saying. "Other 35 passengers on board were injured and have been shifted to Civil Hospital Nandurbar for treatment," Pandit added.
