State-level meet held on nat’l education policy

Pune: A state-level conference on the National Education Policy (NEP) Draft, 2019, and Children with Disabilities was recently held jointly by Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities (AYJNISHD), Mumbai, and School of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University).

The conference held at Bharati Medical College auditorium was inaugurated by Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment Joint Secretary Prabodh Seth. 

“There is a need to make education accessible to persons with disability,” Seth said.  The conference highlighted several points which include need for preschool for children with disabilities, NEP draft improvements in childhood education, education of children with marginal disabilities through easy illustrations etc.
