PUNE: The Maharashtra State Transport Union has levelled allegations against the State government for not distributing Rs 4,849 crore according to the wage agreement. The agreement has been made for four years. 

Hanmant Tate, Secretary of the Union, has threatened to protest against the government as it has adversely affected lakhs of workers.

Tate was speaking to media persons on Monday. He said that the government was keeping workers away from promised increments.

The meeting was held between Transport Minister Diwakar Raote and representatives of workers’ union discussing the contract for period from 2016 to 2020. But workers were not satisfied with the government offer and the meeting ended without any decision. Meanwhile, the case has been filed at the Industrial Tribunal of Mumbai.

“The government will face a strong protest if decision is not taken till February 1,” said Sandip Shinde, Chief of the Union.

Further, Tate also warned the government that the union may adopt a political stance in the coming elections if their demands were not attended to.

Shinde also demanded that full status of Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) should be granted to MSRTC which at present is a semi-government corporation. MSRTC serves lakhs of passengers every day.
