Mumbai: Taking a jab at the central government over changing name of Motera Stadium to Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Maharashtra Chief Minister Udhav Thackeray said that no team can defeat India as stadium’s name is Narendra Modi.

Uddhav Thackeray also stated that his party doesn't need to take lessons of Hindutva from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government.

“Someone has rightly said that now we won’t be losing any matches of cricket because now the name of the stadium has been changed. We won't be losing any match in that stadium henceforth. You remove the name of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, do not award Bharat Ratna to Veer Savarkar and try to teach Hindutva to us," Uddhav Thackeray in a befitting reply to a discussion on the Governor's address in the assembly of the state on Wednesday said.

Uddhav Thackeray’s remarks come week after the refurbished world’s largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad was renamed after Narendra Modi. During the ceremony, many dignitaries including President Ram Nath Kovind, Home Minister Amit Shah and Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju were present.

The newly constructed stadium is currently hosting the fourth and final Test match of the four match Test series between India and England.
