A 45-year-old man died and two others sustained serious injuries when a car lost control and crashed into several vehicles in Miryalaguda town on Wednesday. The accident took place on the Addanki–Narketpally road.
Reports indicate that the deceased, Megavath Mangta, a resident of Maisammakunta Thanda in Miryalaguda mandal, was employed as a security guard at a private bank and was the only earning member of his family. The accident occurred while Mangta was crossing the road on his two-wheeler near Nandipadu, when a car travelling from Guntur to Hyderabad went out of control and collided with him.
The vehicle subsequently rammed into two parked motorcycles and a tractor before coming to a stop. Mangta died at the scene, while Dhanawat Bhaskar of Kuriya Thanda and Sunny, an employee at a car service centre, suffered serious injuries. Local residents transported the injured to a private hospital in Miryalaguda.
The car’s occupants allegedly fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind. Police arrived at the location, moved the body to Miryalaguda Area Hospital for a post-mortem examination, and registered a case following a complaint lodged by the victim’s family. An investigation is in progress, said Two Town Circle Inspector Somanarsaiah. Mangta is survived by his wife, Mangamma, and their two daughters.
In the aftermath of the accident, family members, relatives, and local villagers held a protest on the Addanki–Narketpally road, calling for justice. The demonstration blocked the road for more than three hours, causing severe traffic congestion. To handle the situation, police redirected vehicles along alternative routes.
