CCTV footage shows moments of chaos

Initial reports indicate that the young girl was seated on a scooter with her grandfather outside their residence when the event occurred. As the grandmother momentarily walked away to open the gate, two men on a motorcycle suddenly rode up to the family. The assailants allegedly attempted to snatch the child, leading to a tense struggle. CCTV visuals show the grandparents desperately trying to resist the attackers, shouting for help and physically confronting them in an effort to stop the abduction.

Despite their efforts, the suspects managed to overpower the elderly couple, force the child into a waiting vehicle, and flee the scene within seconds.

Grandparents tried to block escape

Eyewitness reports and video recordings indicate that the grandparents risked their own safety while trying to stop the kidnappers from fleeing. They allegedly attempted to obstruct the vehicle and kept calling out for help, but the abductors drove off before neighbours were able to step in.

The unsettling footage has now spread extensively, prompting significant alarm over child safety and public security in residential neighborhoods.

Father alleges custody dispute behind kidnapping

After the incident, the child’s father suggested that the abduction might be connected to an ongoing custody battle with his wife. He asserted that the people involved were familiar to the family and accused his wife of planning the kidnapping.

He stated that a legal case concerning the child’s custody is currently pending before the court. He also accused his mother-in-law and another individual named Sandeep of involvement, calling on the authorities to carry out a comprehensive and unbiased investigation.

Police launch investigation

Punjab Police have started reviewing CCTV recordings, interviewing witnesses, and following potential leads to identify the suspects and find the missing child. Authorities are also scrutinizing the allegations surrounding the custody dispute to ascertain whether the case involves a criminal abduction or is connected to a family-related conflict.
