Parliament session: India is ready for any situation at border, says Defence Minister Rajnath Singh

The Parliament met for the second day during the monsoon session which started on Monday. The Defence Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the assembly on the India-China border tensions and stated that China does not "recognise the current boundary. We have been ensuing the customary line that was agreed in the 1960s but China does not agree to this now and says that both sides have different viewpoints of this line."

He said, “China has militarised a big number of Army battalions and armaments along LAC. There're many friction points in eastern Ladakh, Pangong Lake. Our Army has made counter deployments in these areas. I want to assure you that we are ready to deal with any situation.”

The Defence Minister also said, "In May, there were multiple attempts of transgression by Chinese PLA which led to the stand-off in Galwan, Pangong and more. These transgressions were immobiled by Indian Army. Our soldiers have shown patience and resolve when required and shown courage and valour when needed.”

He also stated that Indian forces have even laid down their lives to ensure that Chinese plans are foiled. “I request house to pass a resolution that we stand together with our forces who are guarding our borders to protect India's sovereignty,” he concluded
