Soldier kills self with service weapon in Kashmir

Srinagar: A soldier committed suicide by shooting self with his service weapon in south Kashmir on Tuesday, official sources said.
They said panic gripped an Army camp at Mughal Gund, Qazigund in south Kashmir when firing shots were heard from an area early this morning. Other soldiers immediately rushed to the area to find Sepoy Kulvinder Singh of 10 Sikh Regiment lying in a pool of blood. The soldier was immediately shifted to Army hospital where he was declared brought dead.

It was not immediately clear why he took this extreme step, they said, adding that police has registered a case and initiated proceedings. He was the fourth security personnel who committed suicide in the Kashmir valley during the past one month. Taking extreme step by security forces engaged in counter insurgency operations in the valley has not stopped even after introducing Yoga and Art of Living.
