Sonu Sood has been in the news for all the positive things he has done for the migrant workers and the needy during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet again, the spotlight falls on him for a positive reason.

Over 150 women workers from Odisha who had been stranded in a textile mill in Ernakulam district of Kerala were confused and worried after they resigned from work in the hope that they would return home. The women were desperate for help, without Shramik trains available to return to their hometowns immediately and without any money because they had withdrawn from their jobs, they were clueless as to what to do. But after a week of confusion, the group finally began its journey from Kerala, all because of Sonu Sood. 

After he heard about the situation, he arranged a chartered flight for the stranded women. The flight took off at 8 am on Friday from Cochin International Airport in Ernakulam district to Bhubaneshwar in Odisha. 

Apart from 151 women workers, nine more workers worked at Bawa Wood Industry from the same State and were on the same flight. It might be the first time in our country that migrant workers are being evacuated in a chartered plane. 

The news minute (a digital media platform) previously in May reported about the situation of 151 women in the KITEX plant. They even tweeted about the same to the Odisha government. Also, They connected the stranded women workers to the Odisha government. Sonu Sood, after he heard about the women's conditions, arranged them a chartered flight. The actor booked the flight at his own expenses.

He has also launched a helpline for migrant workers and has been working actively to help these workers return home. Recently, he also gave rooms to the health professionals in his hotel in Mumbai.

The workers were shocked when they came to know that the actor has booked a chartered plane for them and they will be flying home. Workers told TNM that they were pleased to finally returning home.

Kochi City Police Commissioner Vijay Sakhare helped in taking the workers from labour camps of their respective factories to the Kochi airport on Thursday night.

According to sources, migrant workers have been given necessary permissions by the Odisha government to get back to their State. The flight arrived around 10.30 am on Friday at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Odisha.
