Union Minister Nitin Gadkari tests positive for COVID-19

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari tested positive for the novel coronavirus. He has isolated himself. 

Nitin Gadkari on Twitter said, "Yesterday, I was feeling weak and consulted my doctor. During the course of my check up, I have been tested COVID-19 positive. I am at present doing well with the blessings and good wishes of all. I have isolated myself."

He also requested those who have come in contact with him must go for the COVID test.

Transport Minister's colleague in the cabinet namely Amit Shah, Dharmendra Pradhan, Shripad Naik, Kailash Choudhary, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Gajendra Shekhawat and Suresh Angadi were also tested positive for the contagion recently.

Many politicians who tested  positive recently include Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, to name a few.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra continues to witness spike in terms of new cases. 23,365 new cases and 474 deaths reported were reported in the state on Wednesday, according to the health ministry. 17,559 patients were discharged. The total cases in the state now stands to 11,21,221 including 30,883 fatalities and 7,92,832 patients discharged. The active caseload is at 2,97,125.
