Negligence on Wheels: Ambulance Driver Flees After Hitting Motorcyclist Near Katraj Dairy

The ambulance driver, instead of stopping to help, fled the scene immediately. Authorities have launched a search operation to track him down, and the case is currently under investigation.

Pune: In a tragic accident, a 48-year-old motorcyclist lost his life after being hit by a speeding ambulance near Katraj Dairy on Pune-Satara Road. Following the incident, the ambulance driver fled the scene, prompting a police search operation.

The deceased, identified as Pandurang Vaman Pandhere, was a resident of Siddhivinayak Society, Dattanagar, Ambegaon. His son, Rohit Pandhere, filed a complaint at the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station, leading to a case being registered against the ambulance driver, Amar Shinde.

According to police sources, the accident occurred at approximately 3:15 PM on Monday. Pandurang Pandhere was returning home on his motorcycle when a speeding ambulance rammed into him near Katraj Dairy. The impact left him critically injured, and he succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

The ambulance driver, instead of stopping to help, fled the scene immediately. Authorities have launched a search operation to track him down, and the case is currently under investigation.

The Bharati Vidyapeeth Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Motor Vehicles Act against driver Amar Shinde. Assistant Police Inspector Sameer Kadam is leading the investigation, and efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding driver.
