Pune: A disturbing case of abduction and robbery has surfaced in Pune, where the son of a Gujarat police officer was kidnapped, assaulted, and looted while on a visit to the city. The victim, Balbhadrasinh Natvarsinh Jadeja (25), was abducted after stepping out at night for a soda, blindfolded, and taken to a secluded riverbed where he was attacked by three unidentified men.
The incident took place in the Kasba Peth area on the night of February 7. Balbhadrasinh, originally from Kachbhuj, Gujarat, had come to Pune six days earlier to visit his cousin. Around 1:15 AM, he left his cousin’s residence near Gavkos Maruti Temple due to an upset stomach and was looking for a soda when he encountered a stranger on a moped.
Upon inquiring where he could find soda, the man on the moped offered to take him to a place. Trusting him, Balbhadrasinh sat on the vehicle. As they proceeded, two other men approached on a separate motorcycle. The moped driver introduced them as his friends.
Moments later, he stopped the vehicle at an intersection, and one of the men from the second bike joined them. Suddenly, Balbhadrasinh was forcibly blindfolded, and when he tried to resist, one of the kidnappers covered his mouth to silence him.
The kidnappers then took him off the vehicle and led him down a staircase. When they removed his blindfold, he realized he was in a riverbed. Before he could react, the assailants started beating him.
During the assault, the attackers forcibly took ₹10,000 in cash and a mobile phone worth ₹10,000 from him. Despite having taken his valuables, they continued demanding more money. When Balbhadrasinh informed them that he had no additional cash, he was beaten again.
The assailants then allowed him to call his cousin, Jayendrasinh, and instructed him to transfer ₹10,000 via an online payment scanner. "Send the money now, or we will kill him," they threatened. However, Jayendrasinh refused to comply with their demands.
With no money received, the attackers eventually decided to let Balbhadrasinh go. Around 3:00 AM, they abandoned him at Devjibaba Chowk and fled the scene. Later that morning, the victim approached the police and registered a complaint at the Faraskhana Police Station.
