  1. The Union government has approved a ₹6,000 crore elevated corridor project to ease traffic in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.

  2. The project will be built in two phases between Narhe and Dehu Road, covering key congested routes.

  3. Once complete, it will save commuters’ time, reduce congestion, and improve travel between Pune, Mumbai, and IT hubs.

Pune, 1st September 2025: Pune is set to get a major relief from traffic congestion as the Union government has cleared a ₹6,000 crore project to build an elevated corridor between Narhe and Dehu Road.

Thousands of citizens who travel daily from Sinhgad Road, Narhe, and Ambegaon to the Hinjewadi IT hub or towards Mumbai face long hours stuck in traffic. The new corridor is expected to reduce travel time and improve road safety.

According to MP Supriya Sule, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has given approval to the project, which will now move to the Union Cabinet for final clearance. The plan includes two phases: the first will connect Dehu Road to Pashan–Sus, while the second will extend from Pashan–Sus to Narhe.

The elevated route is seen as vital for smooth movement on the busy Pune–Bengaluru highway, especially between Navale Bridge, Warje, Chandni Chowk, and Ravet. Sule also urged that a similar elevated corridor should be fast-tracked on the Hadapsar–Yavat stretch, another traffic-heavy route connecting Pune with Pimpri-Chinchwad.

Once completed, the project will not only ease traffic but also save commuters’ time and reduce the daily stress caused by long jams. For Pune’s growing population and expanding IT workforce, the elevated corridor is being described as an essential step in improving urban mobility.
