Pune: In a shocking act of violence, a bar owner was brutally assaulted and nearly set on fire after he tried to prevent a scuffle outside his establishment in Pune’s Bharati Vidyapeeth area. The incident, which took place near Sanjivani Bar and Restaurant, has raised serious concerns about public safety.
According to the police, a group of young men were involved in a brawl outside the bar when the owner intervened and asked them to leave to prevent further disruption. Angered by his interference, the group attacked him viciously. The bar owner, severely injured, was on his way to Sassoon Hospital for medical treatment when the same group intercepted him en route.
In a horrifying escalation, the attackers poured petrol on him and attempted to set him on fire. They also torched his two-wheeler before fleeing the scene.
Bharati Vidyapeeth Police acted swiftly upon receiving the complaint and launched an immediate investigation. Three juveniles linked to the attack have been taken into custody, and their interrogation is ongoing. Authorities are also probing whether additional individuals were involved in the assault.
The incident has sparked outrage among local residents, who are urging law enforcement to take stricter measures to control rising crime rates in the city. Police have assured a thorough investigation and stringent action against those responsible.
