Pune Excise Revenue Surges: ₹3,000 Crore Boost to State Treasury

Pune division of the Maharashtra government's excise department has reported a substantial increase in revenue from liquor sales. The state treasury has received a boost of approximately ₹3,000 crore from excise duties collected during the 2024-25 financial year. The Pune excise division has seen a notable rise in revenue, with a 9.85% increase in collections compared to the previous year. This growth underscores the consistent contribution of liquor sales to the state's finances.

For the 2024-25 financial year, the Pune excise division collected ₹2,998.33 crore, marking a significant addition to the state's treasury. This amount is part of the broader revenue generated from liquor sales across Maharashtra.

As part of regulatory efforts, four liquor shop licenses were canceled during the year. This move aims to ensure compliance with excise regulations and maintain order in the liquor trade.
