Pune Police Seize Stolen Bike in Mangalwar Peth; Suspect Apprehended

Upon interrogation, the suspect admitted that the bike was stolen.

Pune: The Anti-Robbery and Vehicle Theft Squad seized a stolen motorcycle in Mangalwar Peth area, apprehending a suspect identified as Sahil Sagar Shelar, aged 20, a resident of Taklewadi, Panshet Road, Gorhe Khurd, Haveli.

The operation was carried out after Police Constable Mahesh Patil received a tip-off from an informant.

The squad was actively searching for stolen motorcycles when they were informed about the presence of an individual with a stolen bike in Mangalwar Peth.

Acting swiftly, the police team positioned themselves in front of Gupta Plot, where they detained Sahil Shelar. Upon interrogation, the suspect admitted that the bike was stolen. The case, linked to Sinhagad Road Police Station, is now under further investigation.

The operation was led under the guidance of Additional Police Commissioner Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner Nikhil Pingale, and Assistant Commissioner Ganesh Ingle.

Senior Police Inspector Nandakumar Bidwai of the Anti-Robbery and Vehicle Theft Squad supervised the efforts.

The police team included Sub-Inspector Shahid Shaikh and constables Balu Gaikwad, Pradeep Rathod, Ganesh Dhage, Ajit Shinde, Irfan Pathan, Manisha Pukale, Ravindra Lokhande, Mahesh Patil, Shrikant Dagde, Amit Gadre, Akshay Gaikwad, and Narayan Bankar.

Recently, a 23-year-old man Abhay Suresh Kharde was arrested by Chakan police, and 18 stolen motorcycles worth ₹26 lakh were recovered from him.

Abhay resorted to vehicle theft after losing a significant amount of money in an online game. Abhay learned how to steal vehicles by watching YouTube. The accused reportedly used the money from the theft to continue playing online games, only to lose it again.
