During Ganeshotsav, Pune traffic police will close four key roads after 5 pm and ban heavy vehicles on 12 routes to manage congestion.
Metro services and PMPML buses will run additional trips and diversions to reduce inconvenience.
On immersion day, 27 parking locations have been arranged across the city for two-wheelers and four-wheelers.
Pune, 1st September 2025: With the city preparing for the final days of Ganeshotsav, Pune traffic police have rolled out an extensive traffic plan to control congestion and ensure smooth movement during processions. The plan includes road closures after 5 pm, a complete ban on heavy vehicles along key routes, changes in public transport schedules, and special parking arrangements on immersion day.
From September1 to September 5, four central roads will remain closed to traffic every evening after 5 pm:
Laxmi Road (Hamjekhan Chowk to Tilak Chowk)
Shivaji Road (Gadgil Statue to Mandai)
Bajirao Road (Puram Chowk to Appa Balwant Chowk)
Tilak Road (Hirabaug to Nehru Stadium)
In addition, 12 major routes will remain off-limits to heavy vehicles throughout the period. These include Shastri Road, Tilak Road, Kumthekar Road, Laxmi Road, Kelkar Road, Bajirao Road, Shivaji Road, Karve Road, FC Road, JM Road, Sinhgad Road, and Ganesh Road.
Several inner-city stretches including Subhedar Talim, Pan Ghanti Chowk, Ganj Peth Chowk, Central Street, and Jedge Prasad Road have also been declared no-parking zones.
To reduce inconvenience, Pune Metro has adjusted its timetable and will run extra services, while PMPML has diverted 66 bus routes to align with the traffic plan.
On the day of Ganesh Visarjan, police have arranged 27 parking spots across Pune to avoid congestion and provide convenience to devotees.

Traffic police have appealed to citizens to use alternative routes, follow diversions, and make use of the arranged parking spots to ensure smoother traffic flow during the festivities.
