The Khadakwasla dam system currently holds 19.41 TMC of water, which is approximately 66.58% of its total capacity. This storage level is higher than the previous year, providing a buffer against potential water shortages.

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) currently uses about 1,628.12 crore liters of water daily. The allocated water quota for Pune is 14.61 TMC for the year 2024-25, which should suffice for the city's needs until mid-year.

With adequate water storage, there are no plans for water cuts in Pune until July 15, ensuring residents can access water without interruptions. While water supply remains stable, PMC continues to work on infrastructure maintenance and repairs to ensure efficient distribution.

As summer progresses, the city's water management strategies will be crucial in maintaining supply without cuts. Pune's water needs are projected to increase significantly by 2031, with the city's population expected to reach 76.16 lakh. Thus, long-term planning and infrastructure development are essential to meet future demands.

The assurance of uninterrupted water supply until July 15 brings relief to Pune residents, who can now plan their summer without worrying about water cuts. The city moves forward, it is crucial to continue investing in water infrastructure and management to ensure sustainable access to this vital resource.
