Pune: A tragic incident unfolded in Pune's Sinhagad Road area on Sunday evening when a woman allegedly killed her alcoholic husband following repeated instances of harassment.

The Sinhagad Road Police have detained the accused, identified as Hira Bipt, 46, after she allegedly stabbed her husband, Kirpa Bipt, 42, during a heated argument.

Kirpa Bipt, originally from Nepal, had been working as a security guard at Swapnapurti Residency Society in the Manajinagar area of Narhe, Pune. He had a history of alcohol abuse, which often led to altercations with his wife, Hira. According to the police, Kirpa frequently harassed Hira under the influence of alcohol, leading to repeated domestic disputes.

On Sunday evening, yet another argument escalated between the couple. In a fit of rage, Hira allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed Kirpa, inflicting serious injuries. Neighbors alerted the police, and Senior Police Inspector Raghavendra Kshirsagar, along with his team, rushed to the scene to investigate the matter.

Kirpa was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for medical assistance. However, he was declared dead upon arrival, having succumbed to his injuries before any treatment could be administered.

Hira was subsequently taken into police custody late in the night as authorities investigated the circumstances leading up to the fatal altercation.

The police have registered a case at the Sinhagad Road Police Station, and further inquiries are underway to understand the full details of the incident.
