Southern Command Commemorates National Organ Donation Day

Pune: In a heartfelt tribute to Indian Organ Donation Day, Command Hospital, Pune hosted a significant event aimed at promoting awareness about the life-saving impact of organ donation.

The ceremony was graced by Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, Ati Vishist Seva Medal, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Southern Command, and Mrs. Komal Seth, Regional President of the Southern Star Army Wives Welfare Association. The event was well-attended by personnel from all ranks and their families.

The program featured insightful presentations by medical specialists from Command Hospital and the Army Institute of Cardiac Thoracic Sciences.

Topics covered included the concept of brain death, the dispelling of myths surrounding organ donation, and the success stories of transplants within the armed forces.

Mrs. Arti Gokhale, Central Coordinator of the Zonal Transplant Coordination Centre, Pune, delivered a powerful keynote address highlighting the critical role of organ donation in saving lives and providing hope.

During the ceremony, Lt. Gen. Seth and Mrs. Komal Seth honored organ donors and their families, acknowledging their altruistic contributions.

In a moving conclusion, all attendees, including military personnel and their families, took a solemn pledge to become organ donors, reflecting the generosity and compassion that characterize the Armed Forces.
