IPL 2021 Auction: Glenn Maxwell becomes the first big-money signing

Royal Challengers Bangalore bought Glenn Maxwell for Rs 14.25 crore.

Australia’s all-rounder Glenn Maxwell became the Indian Premier League 2021 auction’s first big money signing as the star player was snapped by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

RCB bought Glenn Maxwell for Rs 14.25 crore.

Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders started the bidding war for the star player. However, later on, Chennai Super Kings joined in fierce bidding war. In the end, RCB managed to seal the deal, shelling out a whopping Rs 14.25 crore.

Meanwhile, the IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel in opening speech confirmed that Vivo has returned as title sponsor for the cricket festival this year after staying away last year. "Vivo is back as the sponsor this year," Patel said prior to the auction.
