Pune: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has announced the launch of a postgraduate diploma program in Temple Management. This program, designed to span six months, aims to equip students with professional skills for efficient temple management.

It will also provide guidance on the social, economic, and cultural dimensions of temple administration. Admissions for the course will commence in February at the university's Nashik campus and in June at the Pune campus.

Partnership with Temple Connect

To implement the course, SPPU has partnered with Temple Connect, a dedicated organization in the field of temple management. The partnership was formalized in the presence of notable personalities, including SPPU Vice-Chancellor Dr. Suresh Gosavi, Temple Connect founder Gireesh Kulkarni, and senior nuclear scientist Dr. Suresh Haware.

This collaboration follows similar initiatives undertaken by Mumbai University and Welingkar Institute, where the temple management course began in September.

Course Objectives and Future Plans

The primary objective of the program is to nurture a generation of competent temple managers capable of implementing innovative and sustainable practices in temple ecosystems.

Dr. Gosavi expressed confidence that the course will attract students not only from Maharashtra but from across India, contributing to significant developments in the domain.

Temple Connect founder Kulkarni emphasized the broader vision of this initiative. The postgraduate diploma is just the beginning, with plans underway to introduce a six-month certification course, a one-year diploma program, and eventually, a two-year MBA in Temple Management.

The course is expected to make a substantial impact by fostering expertise and innovation in temple administration, thereby addressing the need for systematic and professionalized management in this field.
