Pune: A speeding car lost control and rammed through the iron shutter of a shop on Tilak Road late Saturday (January 11) night. The incident, involving four minors, caused significant property damage but resulted in no injuries.

The accident occurred near Sahitya Parishad Chowk when the car, being driven at high speed by one of the minors, lost control. The vehicle veered onto the footpath and collided forcefully with the shop's iron shutter, breaking it completely.

The loud crash woke up nearby residents, who quickly rushed to the spot. The minors, visibly shaken by the incident, had already contacted a crane operator to help move the car. However, alert residents detained them and informed the Vishrambaug police.

Police officers arrived promptly at the scene and took the four minors into custody. While no injuries were reported, the accident caused significant damage to the shop. No formal complaint has been registered at the Vishrambaug police station as of now.

The minors had borrowed a friend’s car and gone to the Deccan Gymkhana area for dinner. Post-midnight, they were returning towards Swargate when the accident took place.

The incident has raised concerns about reckless driving, particularly among minors. Police have noted the details of the incident but have not filed a formal report yet.
