Pune: The Raigad District Collector has issued a notification closing Varandha Ghat, which connects Raigad to Western Maharashtra, to all types of traffic until August 31.

The recent heavy rainfall caused a landslide, severely damaging the road and making it extremely narrow and dangerous for travel.

During the monsoon season, heavy rainfall often results in landslides, falling trees, road subsidence, and soil erosion, leading to previous incidents of loss of life and property.

In light of these dangers, District Collector Kishan Jawale has announced the closure of this national highway through Varandha Ghat until August 31, 2024, for the safety of travelers and transporters.

Travelers and tourists are advised to use alternative routes.
