Eiffel Tower evacuated over bomb threat

Sakal Times News Desk

The Eiffel Tower in Paris has been evacuated and armed police have sealed the area after an anonymous caller told the police that they had planted a bomb at the site. The site is visited by thousands of people every day.

A large area around monumental landmark is said to have been cordoned off by police, with people requested to stay away from the area. Local media reported that police were alerted that a bomb had been placed near it.

The Eiffel Tower was closed for three months due to the spread of novel coronavirus. It reopened with limits in June and it has remained open despite a big spike in cases during the nation’s second wave of the coronavirus.
