French President Emmanuel Macron tests positive for COVID-19

French President Emmanuel Macron tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday

The French president has tested positive for coronavirus, after developing symptoms. Emmanuel Macron's office said that he'll isolate for 7 days and will work remotely.

The brief statement from Elysee Palace did not gave any brief about the symptoms the President was experiencing. "He will continue to work and take care of his activities at a distance," it said.

France's second national lockdown ended on Tuesday although cases are still above national targets. The government relaxed restrictive rules ahead of year-end festivities, health authorities data showed.

Since the crisis of the novel coronavirus, France has reported 2,391,447 people infected with the COVID-19, as well as 59,072 fatalities.
