Pakistan admits Dawood Ibrahim is in Karachi

Sakal Times News Desk

Dawood Ibrahim, the mastermind of 1993 serial blasts and most-wanted in India is in Karachi, as admitted by Pakistan's Foreign Affairs Ministry on Saturday, 22 August. They released a list of 88 leaders, members of terrorist groups that included Dawood Ibrahim. Islamabad imposed more restrictions on these groups.

The list mentioned 88 terror groups and their leaders, including Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed, Mohammad Masood Azhar of JeM and Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi. As per reports, Dawood is housed in White House, Karachi. As the official statement mentioned Dawood's address -- house number 37, street number 30, housing authority, Karachi.

This admission by Pakistan could be due to the rising international pressure on Pakistan. India has always said that Pakistan was safeguarding Dawood Ibrahim, alleging that Pakistan is a 'safe haven' for terrorists. New Delhi always asked Pakistan to admit that they were shielding Dawood, however until today, Islamabad has always denied the allegations.

Pakistan was put on the grey list by the Paris-based Financial Action Taskforce (FATF) in June 2018. They asked Islamabad to implement a plan of action by the end of 2019. But the deadline was pushed because of the coronavirus outbreak. To wriggle out of the list, imposed stringent financial sanctions on the banned terror groups. Pakistan seized all their properties and bank accounts.
