Islamabad: Pakistan has communicated dissatisfaction over a US report that criticised its failure to tame militant outfits, like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). The US report ignored the circumstance on the ground, it said.

An announcement by Pakistan foreign Office said, "Pakistan is disappointed with assertions made in the US Department of State's Country Report on Terrorism 2018."

"The report ignores the factual circumstance and the contribution made and sacrifices rendered by Pakistan over the last 2 decades in the international struggle against terrorism. Our efforts have not only eliminated terror organisation Al Qaeda from the region, but have also made the world a safer place," it said.

The US State Department report said Pakistan had implemented international standards to combat money laundering and terror financing and also condemned such acts but the "implementation stays uneven".

Pakistan had not taken enough measures against "externally focused groups, like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). which continued to operate, train, organise and raise fund in the nation," it said.

Pakistan's foreign office, however, has not mentioned why terror groups, like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) continued to operate on its soil.
