Vietnam President Tran Dai Quang passes away

HANOI: Vietnam President Tran Dai Quang died on Friday after prolonged illness. He was 61.

The President died in the Military Central Hospital in Hanoi, reports Efe news.

He had been sworn into office in 2016, following his stint as head of the ministry of public security.

The role of president in Vietnam is largely ceremonial.
