1,803 students take admission under RTE

PUNE: A total of 1,803 children have taken admission at the schools allotted to them in the first round of lottery under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act. 

While Pune district has one of the highest numbers of vacancies as well as applications, the number of selections in the lottery too was the highest here in the State.

The 963 schools in the district received an overwhelming number of 53,678 applications for 16,580 vacancies. A total of 12,566 children have been selected in the first round of lottery.

The parents can complete the admission procedure for these seats by April 26, after which the process for the second lottery will begin.
