19-year-old held for assaulting PMPML bus conductor

Pune: A 19-year-old youth has been arrested by the Swargate police for attacking the bus conductor of a Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) bus.

The incident took place on Sunday evening. The accused was identified as Sarfaraj Shaikh, a resident of Bibvewadi. Sachin Chavan, the PMPML bus conductor, filed a complaint against him in the case.

According to the Swargate police, the accused was drunk and was standing on the edge of the steps of the rear door. Seeing this, the complainant asked him to come inside the bus. Sarfaraj however refused to do so and attacked Chavan with a sharp blade on his neck and ear.

The police registered a case against the accused for assault and deterring a public servant from discharge of his duty.
