2 cases lodged against police imposter

Pune: Officials of Sangvi and Wakad police station have lodged two cases against Tukaram Raundhal who is involved in cheating people by purchasing material from them and paying them through fake cheques.

Tukaram was arrested by officials of crime branch on Friday. According to information given by the Sangvi police, the accused bought ornaments worth Rs 33,000 from Variety Jewelers on July 10. The accused told the owner of the shop, Devraj Soni, that he is a police inspector and chose to pay through fake cheques. In another incident, the accused bought a sewing machine worth Rs 7,500 from Newraj sewing machine shop and paid through a forged cheque of Bank of Maharashtra on June 4.

Assistant Police Inspector Tanaji Bhogam is investigating the case.
