2 peddlers held with brown sugar

Pune: Two alleged drug peddlers, who are history sheeters, were nabbed by the Khadak police on Monday for possessing 12.5 grams of brown sugar. The arrested accused were identified as Azhar Shaikh (22) and Zoheb Shaikh (23). 

According to Police Sub Inspector Sanjay Gaikwad of Khadak police station,  a police team was patrolling in Bhavani Peth when policeman Imran Nadaf received a tip-off about the two accused carrying brown sugar. The accused were traced and nabbed near Bhavani Peth. 

“While Azhar was carrying 6 gm of the narcotic drug, Zoheb was carrying 6.5 gm of it. The narcotics is worth Rs 60,000,” said Gaikwad.

The police said  Azhar has five cases against him and Zoheb has one case against him. The accused were produced in court and remanded in police custody till June 23.

The police investigation team in the case included Assistant Police Inspector Umaji Rathod and policemen Viju Kamble, Sarfaraz Shaikh, Mahendra Pawar and Sandip Kamble.
