PUNE: A 21-year-old Nepali student of Symbiosis College in Viman Nagar allegedly committed suicide on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as Rahul Anil Agarwal, who lived with his friends at a row house in Konark Nagar Society in Viman Nagar. He studied in third year BBA course.

As per Vimantal police, the incident came to light around 9 pm. Rahul had locked himself in the room and didn’t open even after repeated pleas from his roommates. When they broke open the door, they found him hanging and informed the police. The body was handed over to his relatives after post mortem on Friday.

The police said that the reason behind his extreme step is not known as no suicide note has been found and the police are yet to get details from his iPhone which is locked.

Dr Vidya Yeravdekar, Principal Director of Symbiosis Society said, “Rahul was studying in third year. The college faculty and director have informed me that they had not seen any sign of depression or anything that troubled him in the curriculum in his first two years. We had asked some of his friends if they had found any odd behaviour in him, but it went in vain. The reason for the suicide has not been confirmed yet. The police are investigating the matter.”
