PUNE: As many as 250 applications have been received by the Pune Family Court from couples, who have filed divorce petitions, for the custody of their child for the period of Diwali vacation.

The couples said that they are not able to celebrate festive seasons without their children. Therefore, to spend festive time with them as many as 250 applications were filed in the court. Advocate Ganesh Kawde, who practices at the Family Court, said, “This Diwali we have received several applications from the parents. Those who are not able to have custody of the child during the festive season, will get child’s custody for a limited period. Earlier too, the court has granted permission and united children with their parents during festive seasons. The court mostly allows applications during festivals,” said Kawde.

Another lawyer, Smita Deshmukh added, “A child living with one of the parents feels that they could have spent quality time with their parents together, and such festive season unites children with their parents.”
