2L new voters added this year

Pune: Around two lakh new voters were registered this year by the election branch in Pune district. The final voters’ list was out on Thursday. Deputy Election Officer Monika Singh on Thursday said that people should check for their names in the final list. This year the Pune division which includes Pune, Solapur, Satara, Sangli and Kolhapur districts has recorded nearly 6.2 lakh new voters, details of which will be uploaded on the Election Commission website soon.

A review meeting was held on Thursday at the district collector office by Collector Naval Kishore Ram where the district-wise plan for the total number of polling stations, the number of staff and EVMs and voter-verified paper audit trails (VVPAT) required for the elections were discussed. With the elections to be held this year, Collector Ram said that all officials involved in helping people in the voting process should work dedicatedly and should also furnish all information on time.
 
The administration is working on financial needs, help desk, checking the election centres, grievance redressal system, law and order maintenance, training to booth level officers and other tasks.
