3 held under Prevention of Begging Act

Pune: Officials of the Khadki police has traced the woman who was carrying a year old baby boy and was allegedly found begging on the streets. The photo of the woman along with the boy had gone viral on various social media sites after which police was in search of the woman.

During the investigation, officials of the Khadki police found that the woman along with the boy at Church Signal in Khadki Bazaar. A team of Khadki police along with Sub-Inspector Mohini Dongare brought the child and the woman to Khadki police station.

Further investigation revealed that the boy belongs to a relative of the woman. “In our investigation, we found that the boy’s parents had given him to the accused woman for begging. Following which, we arrested the parents of the boy as well under the Prevention of Begging Act.” Dongare said.
