39-yr-old held for stealing bikes

Pune: A 39-year-old businessman has been arrested for allegedly stealing costly bikes ‘under the influence of alcohol’. Alankar police station officials have recovered three bikes including one KTM and Royal Enfield Bullet from his possession. He has stolen six bikes till now, police said.

The arrested accused has been identified as Dhawal Lalit Thakkar, a resident of Kothrud. Police said that he is highly educated and after a loss in business he started drinking heavily and later started stealing costly bikes. 

Acting on a tip-off received by policemen Sachin Budhawale and Ganesh Dalvi, a team led by Senior PI Rekha Salunke caught Thakkar on Tuesday. According to police, Thakkar had stolen the bikes from Kothrud, Hinjewadi and Deccan areas. 

Investigation team included Inspector Vijaykumar Shinde, PSI Ambrish Deshmukh, and Ganesh Mane, Rajendra Sonawane, Pramod Mohite, Navnath Shinde and Nitin Padwal.
