64,000 ration cards not in use suspended

PUNE: Officials from the Foodgrain Distribution Office said on Wednesday that ration cards of people not availing the facility for three months will be suspended.Foodgrain Distribution Officer Asmita More said if it is found that a person has stopped availing ration for three months then the office will suspend the ration card of the person. Similarly, if people have shifted, then they need to register their ration card with the nearest fair price shop. 

More said 64,000 ration cards have been suspended till date. Officials said considering the drought situation across state, the district’s ration quota has been increased to cater to the migrant population. This has also been communicated with the fair price shops to provide foodgrains to the migrated population.
