Action taken against 1,335 persons in Pimpri-Chinchwad

Pimpri: Police here have taken action against 1,335 persons who were found driving under the influence of liquor and other traffic violators on the night of December 31 in Pimpri-Chinchwad.

Fines were imposed on some of these traffic violators. Altogether Rs 4,56,500 fine was collected during the drive.

Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate had launched the drive against drunken driving and other traffic violations during the New Year celebrations.

Police personnel from various police stations had also joined the traffic police during the operations. Naka Bandi was imposed at various strategic locations to inspect vehicles and identify drunken drivers.


The drive was undertaken in Pimpri, Nigdi, Chinchwad, Bhosari, Talawade, Sangvi, Hinjawadi, Dehuroad - Talegaon Dabhade, Chakan and Dighi-Alandi zones under the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate. 

Court cases have been lodged against 202 persons who were found driving under the influence of liquor. Breath analysers were employed to detect drunken driving.
