Agro Friendly Walk by CoA to begin in July

Pune: Gardening enthusiasts will have a reason to rejoice against the backdrop of monsoon as the College of Agriculture (CoA) has decided to implement a programme named Agro Friendly Walk in which the participants will be taught gardening.

Moreover, the participant citizens will also be imparted education about simple tips of farming for growing vegetables at home with simple techniques.

The Agro Friendly Walk programme will be rolled out from July 29 and the programme will be held on every first and third Saturday between 10 am and noon.

Briefing about the initiative, Shivajinagar MLA Vijay Kale who suggested this programme, said that there are lot of citizens who love gardening but most of them do not know how to plant trees, grow plants, how to take care of their plants etc.

Hence, through this programme, the College of Agriculture will teach how to go about gardening and farming.  The programme will also inform participants about various department of the College of Agriculture.  “Through this programme, the participants will also impart training about bio-control lab, tissue culture, mushroom growing, bio-fertilisers, hi-tech horticulture, nursery, fruit farming, and growing various indigenous and exotic plants,” Kale said.
